Hall of Faith: Enoch
Hebrews 11, “The Hall of Faith”, studying about the faithfulness of God and love this excerpt from my morning reading:
“faithfulness requires great trust and rock solid belief in the promises of God. Following Christ is a direct call to let go of our human need to understand everything and trust God.”
I’ve always loved the story of Enoch, perhaps it’s partly the way that scripture describes his departure from this life, but OH! The depth of relationship, companionship, and communion with God- that is the true beauty of his life! My spirit is lit from within when I read about this man’s walk with God. Yes Lord, let that be me! May I be counted in your heart as Your friend. May I be one who pleases you, who walks by faith alongside you each day. May my trust in, and love for You delight your heart.
If you aren’t familiar with Enoch’s story you can check it out in Genesis 4 and in Hebrews 11.
The following interpretation of the story of Enoch is stated so beautifully that I just have to share-
Enoch lived a long time ago and God came by every day and said to him “Enoch, would you like to take a walk with Me?” and Enoch said, “I’d love to.” So they did that every day, just God and Enoch taking a walk together. But one day they had walked and talked for a long time and God said, “Enoch, it’s getting really late. We’re closer to where I live than where you live now. Would you like to come home with Me?”
And of course my thoughts are - Yes please.
:)
I pray that your heart would long to walk and talk with God each day, that your delight would be to trust Him, to be found in the family of faith as one who knows our Father- and that you would know this life’s journey’s end is simply the beginning of forever with a friend.
